The Japanese Geographical Union was founded in 1998 and is a flexible network-type organization for the promotion of the research and educational activities in Geography in Japan.
At present, 25 associations are joining the Japanese Geographical Union.


The Purpose and Activities

The purpose of the union is to expand research in geography, promote mutual exchanges and colloquiums for
geography professionals, and contribute to the development of geographical research through organizational interactions.
In order to achieve this goal, the union conducts the following undertakings:

(1) Sponsor symposia and conferences.

(2) Conduct information exchanges with related organizations and associations.

(3) Promote the spread of geographical knowledge into the society, including maps, regions, environments, information, and so on.
